One thing about this program that is frustratingly accurate is how it mimics a real life professional workplace. I think in years past, it used to be more exaggerated and less true to life when educational facilities would try to prepare you for such. I have learned the hard way workplaces can be very sink or swim when it comes to learning everything needed to succeed. Even if you are adept at the skills they hired you for, that does not mean you will know how people behave and how their chosen software operates.
I feel the complaining I’ve done about VS Code exemplifies that. I may be feeling more adept with it now, but at the same time I feel like I am still learning certain things. For instance, the disconnect I had with not seeing the dummy project for the workspace app. I wound up having to learn I needed MySQL server installed, not just workspace. I needed to configure my env file to connect to both MySQL and Firebase. So I had to fish for the Firebase info, which I had partially but I had to get the rest from Lesly. After that I still could not understand why it wasn’t working. Until I learned I have to run BOTH the frontend and backend at the same time.
I finally got it working, and I can now see the effects of the features I am developing. Which is helpful because now I can catch failure points before pushing it to Veronica.
