Software Integration Week 1: I start my day with a cup of Javascript

Learning the way of designing vector structures in Javascript has been a trip. Along with determining coordinates to use for the Line attributes has exhausted my brain just a bit. See, it doesn’t work as simple as drawing a vector shape in a photo editing software like Adobe Premier or what have you. It feels like a game of inches determining the start point and the follow through point to the end. I wound up using AI to explain how the path commands work in order to understand how to write it effectively.

Disclaimer: AI was NOT used to generate code for the project. It was used to explain a general function

The line function wasn’t as bad since it just uses X/Y coordinates which is simpler and something I’m more familiar with. Repeating this type of code does feel outright tedious and kind of numbs my mind after a bit. It goes to show that front end development still requires a bit of learning and skill even if it doesnt seem as complex as back end development.

I do like playing with different options of lines and shapes to get a visual of what the app could look like. However, the focus is to match the vision and once I feel I’ve met it the best I could, I move onto the next block of code.

On the css side, I do like how it feels like adjusting something that’s in place. I’ve picked what chair and couch I want, now I get to pick what color and fabric it has. I tends to make css feel like I code that part much faster than jsx at times, since the jsx file does the initial heavy lifting.

I think it makes me feel that CS degrees should probably have a class or chapter that focuses on front end then back end development.
